Finnish metal band Barrel continue their march toward their debut full-length album “Triptych with the release of the new single Sophia’s Repentance.” The album is set to arrive on February 6, following December’s first single “Scavenger.”

Pushing forward on furious riffs and relentless energy, “Sophia’s Repentance” moves freely between death, thrash, and classic heavy metal. Lyrically, the song delves into gnostic and metaphysical themes, questioning false divinity, knowledge, and liberation, while advancing the album’s overarching conceptual journey.

Triptych promises a wide-ranging metal statement, shifting from raw aggression to vast, melancholic atmospheres without confining itself to a single genre. As with previous releases, the new single is accompanied by comic-style artwork by Juha “Wuorlock” Wuorinen, reinforcing Barrel’s distinctive visual identity.

With live dates across Finland already underway and an album release show planned for February, Barrel step closer to delivering an ambitious debut that positions them as a band moving decisively forward.
