Norwegian composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Morten Veland (best known for his work with SireniaMortemia, and as the founder of Tristania) has released a new Mortemia single, a cover of the Eurythmics’ classic “Sweet Dreams.” The track, featuring guest vocals from Kristyn Hope, is available on all digital platforms as of January 30, 2026.

Sweet Dreams” marks the fifth release from Mortemia’s upcoming album “The Cover Collab Sessions”, a collection of twelve cover songs, each performed with a different guest vocalist. Unlike Veland’s previous collaboration albums, “The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions” and “The Covid Aftermath Sessions“, this new chapter is dedicated entirely to reinterpretations of well-known songs, reshaped through Mortemia’s dark, cinematic sound.

Veland explains the origins of the collaboration and his choice of vocalist: “I’m proud and honoured to welcome Kristyn Hope as my special guest for ‘The Cover Collab Sessions’. This is the fifth song to be released for this album. I discovered Kristyn’s band Daedric on instagram about a year ago, sometimes the algorithms introduce you to great new music. I was instantly blown away by Kristyn’s voice, and the intense nerve in all her performances. So naturally I’ve had Kristyn in mind for a possible collab ever since, and I’m very excited that the time now has come. The song we have chosen to do together is a cover of The Eurythmics’ timeless classic ‘Sweet Dreams’. Kristyn did an absolutely amazing job with this song, and I’m thrilled with how this collab has turned out. Together we have created a really cool version of this timeless classic. I feel truly privileged and thankful to have Kristyn on board this project and we both can’t wait to share this song with you all.”

Kristyn Hope, known for her work with Daedric, adds her own perspective on the collaboration: “I am honored to collaborate with Mortemia on this rendition of ‘Sweet Dreams’ and offer my vocals for this track. It was fun to try some vocal techniques I don’t usually use in most of my writing as well.”

Mortemia was revived during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic after an eleven-year hiatus, evolving into a collaboration-driven project that highlights a wide range of vocalists from across the metal scene. With “The Cover Collab Sessions“, Veland continues to expand Mortemia’s artistic scope, this time by transforming timeless songs into atmospheric, gothic reinterpretations that remain faithful to their essence while bearing his unmistakable sonic signature.
