Swedish symphonic metal pioneers Therion will immortalize a once-in-a-lifetime performance with the release of “Con Orquesta” on January 30, 2026 via Napalm Records. The release documents the band’s triumphant return to the orchestral stage—17 years after their last shows of this scale—recorded at their first-ever arena concert, a sold-out night for 11,000 fans at Mexico City Arena.

Joined by the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de MéxicoChristofer Johnsson opted for a new creative approach. Rather than revisiting earlier concepts where band and orchestra met on equal footing, the music was reinterpreted by a Mexican conductor/composer with fresh arrangements, new intros, and interludes, creating a distinct, locally infused orchestral vision of Therion’s catalog.

Spanning 20 tracks across the band’s storied career, “Con Orquesta” blends iconic staples like “To Mega Therion” and “The Blood of Kingu” with emotional highlights (“The Birth of Venus Illegitima,” “Lemuria”), rare covers, and expanded epics such as the “Draconian Trilogy,” all elevated by sweeping orchestration. Bonus rehearsal material further rounds out the release.

More than a live album, “Con Orquesta” stands as a celebratory milestone, proof that Therion remain the undisputed architects of symphonic metal, still expanding their universe with vision, scale, and daring.
