Finnish melodic death metal outfit Brymir have announced their new studio album, What We Leave Behind, set for release on October 2, 2026, via Napalm Records. Alongside the announcement, the Helsinki-based band have unveiled the album’s title track and its accompanying music video.

Described as the band’s darkest and most cinematic work to date, What We Leave Behind explores themes of war, humanity, existentialism, and the legacy we leave behind. The first single blends aggressive melodic death metal with soaring keyboard-driven melodies while showcasing the band’s increasingly expansive sound.

Speaking about the track, Brymir commented:

This is a song about our regrets—may these haunting melodies help you reflect on yours and hopefully show some solace in the beauty of the journey.

The band also revealed that the accompanying music video embraces a bold science-fiction aesthetic, marking another step away from the “folk metal” label often associated with Brymir.

We’re bending and breaking our boundaries and definitely any preconceptions of BRYMIR as just a ‘folk metal’ band. Thematically and musically, the title track is the summation of the whole of the very diverse upcoming album.
