After eight years of silence, Norwegian black metal project Ováte return with their second full-length album, Rúin, set for release on November 6 via Soulseller Records.

Created by Aindiachaí (Gorgoroth) on guitars and bass alongside Brodd (ex-Taake) on drums, Rúin follows the band’s 2018 self-titled debut with a darker, colder and more deliberate descent into their blackened world.

One of Ováte’s defining concepts also returns: every track features a different guest vocalist, giving each composition its own distinct voice while Aindiachaí and Brodd provide the musical foundation. Sharp riffing, ritualistic rhythms and an almost trance-like atmosphere run throughout the record, creating something simultaneously aggressive and ceremonial.

For Rúin, Ováte have assembled an impressive cast from the extreme metal underground, including Spellgoth (Horna), H’grimmr (Helheim), Thomas S. Øvstedal (Cor Scorpii), Sanrabb (Gehenna), Ødemark (The Last Eon / The Third Attempt) and Hoest (Taake).

Eight years after their debut, Ováte are not simply picking up where they left off. With Rúin, the band reopen the wound with a collection built around atmosphere, shifting vocal identities and uncompromising black metal intensity.
