1–2 minutes

Previously unseen footage of Wayne Static has surfaced during early archival work on an upcoming documentary exploring his relationship with Tera Wray. The discovery was made by filmmaker Matt Zane while digitizing decades-old tapes filmed with the couple.

Although the documentary is not expected to enter full production until January, Zane has already begun reviewing archival material. Among the tapes was one marked simply “1999.” Once digitized, it revealed nearly 20 minutes of raw interview footage with Wayne Static, filmed shortly after Static-X completed their first Ozzfest run — a moment when the band’s rise was only just beginning.

According to Zane, the tape captures Wayne at a pivotal point, before the weight of legacy and expectation fully settled in. While the documentary primarily focuses on Wayne and Tera’s relationship, the newly uncovered interview predates that chapter by several years, offering a rare glimpse behind the public image.

Zane notes that the footage highlights Wayne’s humor and depth, adding valuable context to his story beyond the stage persona. Portions of the interview are expected to be included in the final film.

Further updates on the documentary will be shared as production develops.
