Detroit rock outfit Eva Under Fire have released their latest single, “The Words You Say”, offering another glimpse into their upcoming third studio album, Villainous, due out on July 10 via Better Noise Music.
Built around haunting melodies, emotional intensity and Amanda Lyberg’s unmistakable vocal delivery, “The Words You Say” explores the damaging effects of toxic relationships and emotional manipulation.
“‘The Words You Say’ is about being in a toxic relationship where your own words are constantly twisted against you,” Lyberg explains. “Over time, that makes you question your own perception of reality and blurs the line between what is true and what isn’t.”
The new track follows a series of singles released ahead of the album, including “Awakening”, “Murder Scene” and the title track “Villainous”, which features guest vocals from Maria Brink. The collaboration has already gained significant traction, climbing steadily on rock radio charts.
Set for release on July 10, Villainous tells a larger story across its 13 tracks. The album follows a journey from personal struggle and self-destruction toward healing, self-discovery and empowerment. According to the band, the record explores what it means to reclaim your identity and take control of your life on your own terms.

Following the album’s release, Eva Under Fire will join Five Finger Death Punch on a major arena tour, introducing their new material to audiences across North America.
Much of the band’s emotional depth can be traced back to Amanda Lyberg’s unique background. Before fully pursuing music, Lyberg earned a master’s degree in psychology and worked in the fields of mental health, grief counseling and addiction recovery. Her personal experiences, including the loss of her father to a fentanyl overdose in 2018, have profoundly influenced both her songwriting and her outlook on life.
As a result, Eva Under Fire’s music has often been described as therapy delivered through the power of hard rock.
Lyberg’s story also inspired the award-winning 2023 short film My Rockstar, which featured Eva Under Fire’s music on its soundtrack. The film went on to collect more than 20 awards at international festivals, including honors from the Orlando Film Fest and Toronto WILD Film Festival.
With “The Words You Say”, Eva Under Fire continue to balance vulnerability and strength, delivering another emotionally charged anthem ahead of what promises to be the band’s most personal album to date.
