German folk rock veterans Schandmaul are entering a new chapter with their upcoming album Sternensegler, set for release on September 11, 2026 via Napalm Records.

The record marks the band’s first full-length with Till Herence on vocals. Herence began filling in during live shows in 2024 after founding vocalist Thomas Lindner stepped back from singing due to illness. Lindner, however, remains an integral part of Schandmaul, shifting his focus to instrumental duties as the band navigates its new lineup.

Sternensegler reflects this transition both musically and thematically. Opening track “Nimm alles mit” looks forward with optimism, while the title track offers a sense of unity and reassurance. “Beide Füße in der Luft” introduces a heavier side of the record and puts Herence’s vocals firmly in the spotlight.

The album also tackles more serious subjects. “Flagge” delivers a clear statement in support of diversity and solidarity, while songs including “Nosferatu” and “Wo Sprache aufhört” explore the band’s calmer side. Elsewhere, “An beiden Enden” brings an anthemic, sing-along energy, while “Trag dich” takes the form of a love ballad.

The journey concludes with “Zwei Raben,” featuring Laura Fella of Faun, while selected editions will include a bonus album featuring seven instrumental harp versions alongside “Räuber und Narren,” Schandmaul’s collaboration with Subway to Sally.

After a period of significant change, Sternensegler finds Schandmaul moving forward without abandoning their past — introducing a new voice while keeping the core of the band firmly intact.
