1–2 minutes

Finnish progressive metal band Sum of Seven return with “Wonder,” the final piece of their upcoming concept album Echoes of the Hypermind, set for release on May 15.

Clocking in at nearly 11 minutes, Wonder is less a traditional single and more a journey. It brings together everything the album has been building toward—heavy riffs, expansive melodies, and a sense of quiet intensity that lingers long after the last note fades.

The album itself explores a timely and unsettling idea: an artificial intelligence that begins to evolve beyond its original purpose, developing something close to empathy—and then something even harder to define.

“Wonder is the moment where the journey reaches its end,” says guitarist Ari Lempinen. “It carries everything that has been built throughout the album.”

Guest vocalist Pia Wijerama adds a striking emotional layer to the track, while a classical guitar solo from Matti Lempinen brings a more intimate, human touch to its vast soundscape.

Choosing Wonder as a single might seem unexpected, but it makes sense—it captures the full scope of what Echoes of the Hypermind is about. Not just complexity, but contrast. Not just power, but reflection.

Sum of Seven will celebrate the album’s release on May 15 at Nirvana in Turku, joined by Barrel and Pressure Points.
