Australian/Finnish progressive dark metal collective THE ETERNAL have unveiled “Colours Fade,” the latest single and music video from their upcoming album Obscured Horizons, due out September 18 via Reigning Phoenix Music.

Blending haunting melodies, cinematic atmospheres, and introspective heaviness, “Colours Fade” explores the fragile relationship between memory, identity, perception, and time—and how each can reshape what we believe to be real.

Vocalist Mark Kelson explains:

“For me, it reflects that internal conflict between what we want to believe and what we know to be true. There’s a recurring sense that we construct these emotional ‘masks’ to protect ourselves, but over time they become part of the illusion that holds us back.”

The fading colours at the heart of the song become a metaphor for losing clarity without losing everything. Memories and emotions may change shape, but they never entirely disappear.

With “Colours Fade,” THE ETERNAL offer another atmospheric glimpse into Obscured Horizons, turning the uncertainty of change into something haunting, heavy, and deeply human.
