Lithuanian avant-garde metal force BLACK SPIKES have released “DULKĖS,” the latest and final single ahead of their sophomore album, Ydos, arriving this Friday.

Meaning “dust” in Lithuanian, “DULKĖS” serves as the closing chapter of Ydos. The track begins slowly and ominously, driven by modern percussion and Agni’s captivating whispers, before erupting into a considerably heavier, headbanging assault.

Balancing vulnerability with crushing intensity, the song brings the album’s exploration of humanity and its vices to its conclusion while turning its attention towards mortality, impermanence and renewal.

BLACK SPIKES explain:

“The final song of Ydos, ‘DULKĖS’, closes the whole fairy tale by returning everything to dust. It is about the shortness of human life and what remains after we are gone. Our bodies disappear, the past fades, and the future belongs to others. But dust also carries the possibility of new life, reminding us that everything ends only to begin again.”

With “DULKĖS,” BLACK SPIKES offer one final glimpse into the bleak yet deeply reflective world of Ydos before the album arrives in full this Friday.
