Finnish melodic death metallers Brymir are showing their less serious side with an unexpected cover of Scooter’s Eurodance classic “How Much Is The Fish”, arriving just ahead of their new album “What We Leave Behind.”

While the upcoming record is described as Brymir’s darkest work to date, the band wanted to end it on a completely different note. Their take on “How Much Is The Fish” transforms the late-’90s dance anthem into a distinctly Brymir-style collision of metal and unapologetic fun.

The choice also fits surprisingly well into the band’s existing world. Their previous album, “Voices In The Sky” (2022), featured “Herald of Aegir,” a song connected to their stance against ocean pollution. Live performances have since inspired fans to bring salmon plushies into the crowd, while festival performances of the Scooter cover have already given birth to the band’s very own “fish pit.”

“As the album on the whole is definitely the darkest we’ve done so far, musically and thematically, we wanted to close the album with a bonus song of something defiantly upbeat and silly,” Brymir explain.

The band describe themselves as children of the hopeful golden age of Eurodance, making Scooter’s bizarrely unforgettable classic a fitting choice. As they put it, some questions are simply too important to leave unanswered: how much is the fish?

“What We Leave Behind” arrives October 2, 2026 via Napalm Records. Brymir are currently celebrating the release with shows in Finland before heading across Europe in February and March 2027.
