Finland’s metal festival scene is getting a powerful new addition as Power & Steel Festival prepares to make its debut at Helsinki’s Cable Factory (Kaapelitehdas) on November 5–6, 2027. Dedicated to power metal and traditional heavy metal, the two-day indoor event will feature more than 20 bands, with the first wave of international and Finnish acts now announced.

Leading the inaugural lineup are Brazilian power metal veterans Angra, who will make their long-awaited Finnish live debut. Formed in 1991, the band has established itself as one of the most recognisable names in the international power metal scene.

British heavy metal legends Tygers Of Pan Tang will also perform in Finland for the first time, bringing a piece of New Wave of British Heavy Metal history to Helsinki. Joining them are American epic metal veterans Virgin Steele and Fabio Lione’s Dawn Of Victory, featuring the celebrated Italian vocalist known for his work with several prominent power metal acts.

The international lineup also includes Boston-based symphonic metal outfit Seven Spires, Icelandic power metallers Power Paladin, who will celebrate their tenth anniversary in 2027, and Swedish veterans Insania, whose history dates back to 1992.

Finland’s own metal scene will be represented by Metale De Facto, Dreamtale, Force Majeure and Strider, completing the first announcement of 11 bands.

A festival Finland’s power metal fans have been waiting for

According to festival promoter Niko Viherlaiho, the idea behind Power & Steel was born from the growing demand for a dedicated power metal event in Finland.

He points to the strong Finnish attendance at Denmark’s Epic Fest as evidence that the audience already exists.

“There has been demand for a power metal festival in Finland for quite some time. A good example is the large Finnish presence at Denmark’s Epic Fest. We didn’t want to start with a smaller event. As is customary in power metal, we’re going big and aiming high right from the beginning.”

While power metal will remain the festival’s central focus, the organisers are also embracing traditional heavy metal, bringing together closely connected musical styles and audiences.

With more than 20 performances planned across two days, the first announcement represents approximately half of the final lineup. The remaining artists are expected to be revealed during the coming winter.

In addition to live music, visitors will have access to food and beverage services throughout the event.

Power & Steel Festival takes place on November 5–6, 2027, at Kaapelitehdas in Helsinki, Finland. The event is restricted to visitors aged 18 and over.
