Finnish cello metal pioneers Apocalyptica have reached another major milestone in their remarkable career, earning their first-ever gold and platinum certifications in the United States. The band has received double platinum certification for “I Don’t Care” featuring Adam Gontier, alongside gold certifications for their album “Worlds Collide” and the single “Not Strong Enough” featuring Brent Smith.

More than three decades into their career, Apocalyptica continue to demonstrate the enduring appeal of their distinctive blend of classical instrumentation and heavy metal. The new certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) mark a particularly meaningful achievement for the Finnish musicians, whose international journey has been built on persistence, experimentation, and a refusal to follow conventional musical boundaries.

“Wow. What a journey it has been,” the band commented, reflecting on the achievement. They acknowledged that reaching gold and platinum status in the United States took time, but emphasized that their success has always been about steady progress, determination, and connecting with new audiences along the way.

The musicians also expressed their gratitude to the artists and collaborators who contributed to these releases, including Adam Gontier and Brent Smith, while reserving their greatest appreciation for the fans who have continued to support their music and keep cello metal alive.

Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, and Perttu Kivilaakso are currently celebrating the milestone on the road, with the band in the middle of a South American tour, including a performance in Brazil. Their touring schedule will take them back to Latin America in January.

Meanwhile, Apocalyptica are showing no signs of slowing down creatively. Last month, the band released “Upperhand”, the theme song for the upcoming video game “CONTROL Resonant”. The track features Katrine Stenbekk, vocalist of Norwegian alternative folk band Kalandra, and is accompanied by a music video directed by Jens de Vos.

From their unconventional beginnings to international recognition and now their first American precious-metal certifications, Apocalyptica’s journey remains an extraordinary example of how a unique musical vision can transcend genres, borders, and generations.
