Berlin-based post-black metal outfit Nidare have unveiled their powerful new single, “Schweigen”, offering the first glimpse into their upcoming full-length album, scheduled for release in 2027 through Moment of Collapse.
Running for seven minutes, “Schweigen” tackles a deeply disturbing subject: the culture of silence that shields perpetrators while leaving survivors unheard. Rather than turning away from uncomfortable realities, Nidare confront the systems and institutions that prioritize protecting their reputations over the well-being of those who have suffered. The song’s unsettling atmosphere is further amplified by a bleak music video that reinforces its uncompromising message.
Drawing inspiration from atmospheric black metal, screamo, post-metal, and hardcore, Nidare have developed a sound that balances emotional vulnerability with crushing intensity. Their music moves between melodic, atmospheric passages and explosive blast beats, occasionally descending into slower, doom-laden territory.
The band’s lineup brings together musicians with backgrounds in acts such as Ancst, Henry Fonda, Ast, Chambers, Afterlife Kids, rýr, and Youth Cult. Taking their name from the old German word nidar, meaning “below”, the group first emerged in 2019 with a self-recorded demo, followed by a four-way split release alongside Welk, Argon, and Lazar. Their debut full-length album, “von Wegen”, further established their distinctive approach to emotionally charged extreme music.
Alongside the new single, Nidare are heading out on an extensive European tour this October with Heretoir and Unreqvited, bringing their intense live performances to Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, and France.
With “Schweigen”, Nidare offer more than another atmospheric black metal composition. It is a confrontation with uncomfortable truths, a refusal to remain silent, and an early indication of the emotional weight their forthcoming album may carry.
