Australian metalcore rising stars Future Static have returned with their emotionally charged new single, “Waterworks”, offering another glimpse into their upcoming second album, “Ornaments & Memories”, set for release on November 6 via Wild Thing Records.
Returning to their post-hardcore roots, “Waterworks” combines frantic guitar work, crushing riffs, and chaotic rhythms with an intensely personal message. Beneath its infectious energy lies a darker story of self-sabotage, anxiety, and the overwhelming feeling of being trapped in a destructive cycle.
Vocalist Amariah Cook reveals that the song emerged from a particularly difficult period in her life, when an increasingly narrow focus on obstacles led to panic attacks, emotional breakdowns, and strained relationships.
“I was too caught in the cycle to see the bigger picture,” Cook explains, describing how writing the track became a way to release emotions she had been carrying for too long. Transforming those feelings into music allowed her to confront them through the band’s signature combination of explosive heaviness and melodic vulnerability.
The single offers a taste of the darker, more philosophical direction of “Ornaments & Memories”. Following their successful 2023 debut “Liminality”, which topped Australia’s AIR chart, the Melbourne five-piece are exploring themes of personal growth, internal conflict, change, and love against the backdrop of an increasingly overwhelming modern world.

Musically, the upcoming record promises a dynamic mixture of powerful breakdowns, intricate guitar leads, soaring vocal harmonies, and relentless drumming, balancing technical precision with raw emotional expression.
Featuring Amariah Cook on vocals, Kira Neil on bass and vocals, guitarists Ryan Qualizza and Jack Smith, and drummer Jackson Trudel, Future Static have rapidly established themselves as an exciting name in Australia’s modern heavy music scene. Their growing international reputation has seen them share stages with Babymetal, Electric Callboy, Jinjer, Enter Shikari, Lacuna Coil, and TesseracT, alongside appearances at European festivals including Sziget, Radar, Reeperbahn, and Euroblast.
With “Waterworks”, Future Static demonstrate that vulnerability and aggression can coexist without compromise, turning deeply personal struggles into a cathartic experience for listeners.
