Norwegian newcomers CURBZ have officially made their debut with “Zhuggah,” a high-energy single that blends hardcore, alternative rock and pop into a sound that refuses to play by the rules. Released through Indie Recordings, the track arrives alongside an equally chaotic music video.
Hailing from Norway’s west coast, CURBZ have already attracted attention within the international music industry, despite having no officially released material until now.
Drawing inspiration from bands such as Turnstile and Drug Church, the group combine aggressive guitars and infectious melodies with influences from indie, rap and pop.
The debut single captures the turbulence of life in your twenties, while its title is a deliberately twisted version of the word sugar. According to the band, the original spelling simply sounded too tame.
“Energy is our number one priority, and ‘Zhuggah’ is the perfect song to represent that side of our music,” the band explain. “It’s a fast track that dances on the edge of chaos, but everything is carefully arranged to maintain the balance. We didn’t hold anything back.”
Despite only just releasing their first single, CURBZ have already made an impression onstage, performing at Norway’s by showcase festival, where they received a Breakthrough Artist nomination, and supporting Norwegian alternative favourites brenn. on tour.
The band credit their natural chemistry for much of their appeal.
“We’re genuinely just a group of friends who love playing music together, and we believe that brings an authenticity to our music that people can connect with,” they say.
Next up, CURBZ will support The Good The Bad and The Zugly at Kulturhuset in Bergen before appearing at Trondheim Calling in February 2027.
Further release plans remain under wraps, but CURBZ are clearly wasting no time making themselves heard.
