After making a striking first impression earlier this year with their debut single “Terminal Phase”, Finnish gothic rock newcomers ORDER return with their second release, “Digital Tear”. Blending heavy gothic rock with futuristic electronic elements, the new track further expands the duo’s dark and thought-provoking sonic universe.
ORDER is the creative partnership of Saku Solin and Daniel Tähkä. While Solin is already a familiar face within the Finnish metal scene through his work with Turmion Kätilöt and Fear of Domination, Tähkä is stepping into the spotlight after years of expressing his creativity primarily behind the camera lens.
Like the band’s debut release, “Digital Tear” was produced by longtime collaborator Lauri Hämäläinen, whose production helps shape ORDER’s distinctive blend of industrial textures, dark atmosphere and modern electronic soundscapes.
Lyrically, “Digital Tear” dives into themes of technology, morality and humanity’s uncertain future. The song paints a dystopian picture that feels unsettlingly close to reality.
“Digital Tear is a journey deep into ORDER’s dystopian landscape and state of mind,” Solin explains. “At the same time, I found myself wondering how far removed it really is from the world we live in. The boundaries are already blurred, morality increasingly feels like nothing more than an optional guideline, and humanity itself is often open to question.”
He continues:
“You can’t help but wonder whether some end-of-the-world scenario, humanity merging with machines, or even artificial intelligence taking over would necessarily be such a terrible thing. What if we are actually the villains of the story, while some other force watches our journey toward the inevitable and sheds a single digital tear?”
Tähkä takes the idea even further.
“Humanity loves inventing new ways to destroy itself, and some of the things described in this song may already be happening without us even noticing. Maybe one day an advanced artificial intelligence will dig our bones out of the sand and study them the same way we study fossils today.”
Accompanying the release is an animated music video created from artwork by Milla Rissanen and animation by Lotta Ruutiainen. The video further enhances the song’s bleak futuristic themes and will be released through ORDER’s channels as well as those of Blood Blast Distribution.
