Taiwanese culture, music, and cuisine took over Helsinki’s Narinkkatori on July 11 as F:F:F – Formosa : Finland : Fest. returned for its second edition, celebrating the growing cultural ties between Taiwan and Finland.

The day’s musical programme opened with Taiwanese folk metal outfit Taiwania, whose performance drew on the rich traditions of Taiwan’s Indigenous music. The highlight came when Freddy Lim—Taiwan’s representative to Finland and internationally known as the frontman of extreme metal pioneers Chthonic—joined the band on stage. Together, they reimagined classic Chthonic songs, igniting an enthusiastic response from the many fans who had gathered early to witness the unique collaboration.

The festival continued with performances from Taiwanese artists Amazing Show, Lilium, and Dungi Sapor, alongside Finnish rock favourites Shiraz Lane and Jussi 69, creating a programme that seamlessly blended the musical identities of both countries.

Beyond the stage, visitors explored Taiwanese food and crafts from more than ten vendors. Among the biggest attractions was the Formosa Nights food stall, where Taiwanese popcorn chicken proved so popular that it nearly sold out within the festival’s first hour.

Organised by the National Cultural Association of Taiwan (NCAT) with support from Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Council of Indigenous Peoples, Formosa : Finland : Fest. continues to establish itself as an important platform for cultural exchange, demonstrating how music, food, and shared experiences can bridge borders and bring communities together.
