Richmond instrumental post-rock/post-metal outfit SHY, LOW have unveiled “Purity Spiral,” the second single from their forthcoming album of the same name, arriving October 16 via Pelagic Records.
Balancing cinematic atmosphere with crushing heaviness, the track builds through repetition, layered textures and gradually escalating tension, continuing the band’s exploration of the space between delicate introspection and overwhelming intensity.

Behind the instrumental journey lies a distinctly contemporary theme: our increasingly complicated relationship with technology.
“‘Purity Spiral’ is an exploration of the feedback loop of technological dependency, and the effect it has on our relationships with others and ourselves,” the band explains. “Self-isolation is a contagion destroying the bonds between us all.”
