Austria/Québec black metal trio DÉTRESSE are preparing to unleash their second full-length album, Misères, on October 9 via Vendetta Records.

Following their 2025 debut Pessimismes, the band push their sound into harsher territory, stripping away much of the atmospheric character of their earlier material in favour of sharper riffs, greater intensity and relentless momentum.

At the heart of Misères lies an exploration of human suffering and hardship. Across the album, DÉTRESSE examine oppression, deprivation and despair, drawing connections between the struggles of the past and those that continue to shape everyday life in the present.

Musically, the same uncompromising philosophy defines the record. Rather than following trends or adding unnecessary layers, DÉTRESSE reduce their black metal to something increasingly direct and hostile.
