Mongolian rock sensation The HU have taken their powerful blend of traditional music and heavy rock to UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris, performing at the “Pump Up The Volume For Peace” event to celebrate the role of music and culture in promoting peace and understanding.
During the event, the band performed songs from their “HUN” album and announced a donation to UNESCO, made possible through the support of their global fanbase. The contribution will support efforts to preserve cultural heritage and traditions for future generations.
“We are extremely grateful that, with the help of our fans, we can make a donation to UNESCO and promote peace through our message,” said vocalist and morin khuur player Galaa.
“We hope this event will not only inspire people to keep their history alive by using ancient instruments to create depth in music, but also promote peace around the world during these turbulent times.”
Formed in Ulaanbaatar in 2016, The HU have gained international recognition for their distinctive Hunnu Rock sound, combining heavy rock and metal with traditional Mongolian instruments and vocal techniques, including throat singing and the morin khuur, a traditional horsehead fiddle.
Their commitment to promoting Mongolian culture earned them the title of UNESCO Artists for Peace in November 2022. The band members also serve as Mongolian Cultural Envoys and have received the country’s prestigious Order of Genghis Khan.
Beyond music, The HU continue to advocate for cultural diversity, environmental protection and the preservation of endangered regional dialects.
The band are currently touring Europe and the UK on their “Warrior Chant Tour,” spanning 22 cities.
