Finnish rising force Averse continue building momentum with the release of their new single Servant to None, accompanied by an intense new music video. Blending melodic metalcore, deathcore and progressive metal influences, the band are quickly establishing themselves as one of the most promising new names in Finland’s modern heavy scene.

The single also marks the band’s first release with new guitarist Roni Kinnunen in the lineup. Fronted by Jonathan Timonen — known to many from The Voice of Finland — Averse first caught attention with last year’s Twisted Mind EP, showcasing both technical precision and Timonen’s exceptionally wide vocal range.

Produced by acclaimed Finnish producer and musician Mikko Herranen, Servant to None pushes the band’s sound into darker and more mature territory.

Servant to None is about a person who stops waiting to be saved and rebuilds themselves on their own terms,” the band explains. “It’s not a traditional empowerment anthem, but a cold and determined portrayal of someone finding direction through failure, silence and chaos.”

The track serves as the first step toward Averse’s debut full-length album, currently scheduled for release in spring 2027. The upcoming record will also be produced in collaboration with Herranen.

Visually, the band balance the song’s bleak atmosphere with a strikingly colorful music video filmed at Graffittilandia. Directed and shot by Joona Penttilä of Monarkki Media, the clip captures the band’s raw energy while reinforcing the song’s message of absolute independence.

“At the core of the song is not rebellion against others,” the band adds, “but the decision to never kneel before anything again. If the light goes out, the path will be built in the dark.”
