Swedish sludge/doom metal heavyweights KONGH have unveiled “Guided to the End,” the second single from their long-awaited fourth full-length album, Dissolved in Time, due out September 25 via Trust No One Recordings.

Following “Staining the Ether,” the new track reveals a more immediate side of KONGH. Founding member David Johansson describes it as perhaps the most straightforward song he has ever written for the band, trading some of their sprawling tendencies for a more direct, rock-oriented approach.

That immediacy extends to the lyrics. “Guided to the End” confronts humanity’s constant search for meaning and permanence despite knowing that everything we build, believe in, and leave behind will eventually disappear.

“I think the song captures that tension between wanting to find meaning and realizing how temporary everything really is,” Johansson explains. “Finding acceptance in the fact that things are not permanent is, at least in my opinion, a way towards fulfillment rather than the opposite.”

The song also questions our tendency to conform to social and cultural expectations, and the fear that often prevents people from stepping beyond them.

Accompanied by a new lyric video, “Guided to the End” offers another glimpse into Dissolved in Time—one rooted not only in heaviness, but in the uncomfortable freedom that comes with accepting that nothing lasts forever.
