Finnish indie success story Suurimaa have released their new single “Tähän päättyy yö” (“This Is Where the Night Ends”), a luminous and emotionally charged pop track built around a powerful chorus and a strong sense of progression.

Accompanied by a music video filmed on the rooftop of Ravintola Face in the band’s hometown of Kankaanpää, the song captures a moment of clarity and renewal. It was first performed live during the band’s biggest show to date at Pori Ice Hall last November.

Blending a melancholic atmosphere reminiscent of Kent with a distinctly Finnish emotional landscape, the track marks the band’s third collaboration with producer Erno Laitinen (known for his work with Haloo Helsinki! and The 69 Eyes). Under his direction, Suurimaa’s sound has evolved into something more cinematic and expansive.

Songwriter Juuso Kemi recalls the origins of the track: “I woke up unusually early one spring morning in Lapland, feeling somehow different. The sunlight came through the blinds, and instead of making coffee, I picked up a guitar. The song came to life in that moment. Later, we refined the arrangement with Erno, but the feeling is exactly the same as that morning in Äkäslompolo in spring 2024. I felt exceptionally hopeful, and that’s what I wanted to capture in the lyrics during these times that often feel short on hope.

Suurimaa have steadily built momentum across both radio and streaming platforms, surpassing 3 million streams and earning frequent airplay. Tracks like “Onnen kukkuloilla,” “Sä et lähtis vielä pois,” and “Syysilta” have helped establish them as one of Finland’s most notable independent acts.

Currently on a short break from live shows, the band is focusing on new material and will soon return to the studio with Erno Laitinen to continue shaping their next chapter.
